Interlibrary Loan: Finding Materials

This guide will help you submit a request for an Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

ILL/Holds in the SRC Catalog

Placing your own ILL within the library's catalog is easy. 

• When you find an item in the library's catalog click on the Place Hold button.

• A login box will open asking for your library card number, this number is on the back of your Student ID.
(remember to use a capital D and no spaces when logging in) 

• The PIN(Password) you will use is SRC

• Once you are logged in make sure Spoon River College (Canton) is chosen as your pickup library.

• Click on the Place Hold(s) button. 

Staff at the library will email your SRC student account for pickup information when the item has been delivered.

How to Place a Hold

Is there a book or DVD you need that the SRC library does not have? 

You can use the search limit tabs, shown below, to see other RSA library's results.

When you find an item to place a Hold:

To the right of the item detail on the results page is a Hold button. Click on the button and you will be prompted for your library card number and a pin. Your library card number is on the back of your student ID. Your pin is SRC -- click Submit.

Did you find something that the SRC Library owns, but you're on another campus?
Use the on shelf hold - 

When you found an item use the same directions as above to place the Hold: 
To the right of the item detail on the results page is a Hold button. Click on the button and you will be prompted for your library card number and a pin. Your library card number is on the back of your student ID. Your pin is SRC -- click Submit.
Once we receive the request we will send it to your campus. 

  • Havana or Rushville you may pick up your Library item(s) at the main desk.
  • Macomb you may pick up your Library item(s) in the Learning Resource Center.
  • Return the item(s) when you are finished to your pick up point.

If you don't have a student ID you can come to the Learning Resource Center in Canton or Macomb. If you are on the Havana or Rushville campus, ask the receptionist at the front desk of your campus. Online students go to this link, fill out the form, and we will send you a library card.

Find It!

Can't find what you want in the library catalog? 

When you login to the service choose WorldCat for books and media, or ArticleFirst for articles.

Found It! Now What?

After you find your item in WorldCat, go to the Borrow From Other Libraries link on the Library Services website, and fill out the form.  

Hardcopy of ILL materials (books, DVDs, CDs):

The wait time for delivery of physical items can be 1-2 weeks, you will receive email notification when your item has arrived with information on where to pick it up. 

Electronic Documents (articles):

Article requests can take up to 5 days to be filled, but it can take longer for difficult to find items. Staff will send you a PDF of the article through your SRC student email account. You will need to have a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader installed on your device in order to open and read the document.

Google Scholar

Google Scholar can also find books and articles the LRC does not own.
